Mehr als 100 Bibliotheken auf den 10 Standorten der University of California unterstützen die Forschung, das Lernen, die Patientenversorgung und den öffentlichen Dienst der Universität. Zusammen bilden sie die größte Forschungs- und akademische Bibliothek der Welt und gemeinsam mit der California Digital Library übernehmen sie eine Führungsrolle dabei, Technologie zur Unterstützung neuer und innovativer Formen der wissenschaftlichen Kommunikation einzusetzen.
