Happy December, Innovators! We’re thrilled by the incredible growth of this community, so far this year. We launched this program to empower on-the-go developers who want to stay ahead of the curve with Google Maps Platform, and have been rewarded with a community that spans the globe and are truly innovative when building extraordinary solutions with our products.
As we head into 2025, we can’t wait to share more with our Innovators all the new features, resources, and innovation we have in store for you next year. To help us prepare, we invite you to share feedback about the Innovator program thus far. We also have two new products we’re making available to our community, and we hope that you are able to explore these new features and provide us with some needed feedback to make them even better for your developer needs.

The Places UI Kit, is a ready-to-use, customizable component library that allows you integrate the familiar Google Maps UI/UX for points of interests (POIs) to your application.The initial release includes the Places List, Place Details and Places Elevation components, with more to come in 2025. To participate in this early access product testing opportunity, please follow the instructions and submit your feedback.
Key Features and Benefits include easier integration and conjunction with other Google Maps APIs, customization to match your apps styling, and enhanced user experience by using familiar Google Maps elements. The Places UI Kit can be applied to a wide range of use cases across various industries:
Travel: The Place Search UI can display a list of places based on Text Search or Nearby Search to support local discovery and trip planning.
Mobility: Places UI kit can enhance the navigation experience, by showing nearby places of interest ( eg: restaurants, EV charging stations, etc) while traveling from one place to another.
Health and fitness: The elevation component of the Places UI kit, can help plan route by providing elevation insights from point A to B.
Real Estate: The Places Details and Search components of Places UI kit can be used to highlight the vibe of the neighborhood, showcasing nearby restaurants, playgrounds, etc.
