Google Issue Tracker now supports issue-level access limits. Previously, access could only be limited via component ACLs, which applied to all issues in the component.

Google Issue Tracker now includes a Collaborators field. This field is used to identify users who are actively working (or collaborating) on an issue. For components with expanded access enabled, Collaborators are granted issue editor permissions.
You can set your notification preference for the Collaborators role on the Settings page. Issue search supports queries by user in the Collaborators field and by collaborator count.

Users who can comment on an issue can now react to comments with a "thumbs up" and view who has reacted.

Google Issue Tracker now has a new way for teams to communicate the summarized status of an issue. It is a markdown-enabled text field called Status Update that is located at the top of the Issue Details Page. It can be populated by the team that owns the bug.

Google Issue Tracker now has comment filtering, which allows users to filter comments using predefined filter types. There are 4 filters available: Full history, All comments, Users' comments and Team and Assignee comments. The filter level can be selected in the top right side of the Comments panel.

The Issue Details view now includes a summary section. This section aggregates issues and links that are mentioned in the comments, and it can be expanded or collapsed.

Google Issue Tracker has launched multiple enhancements to the "Issue Details" view. These changes are focused on work tracking via the parent/child issue hierarchy and at-a-glance discovery.
Changes include:
- A new "Dependencies" tab with a tree-based view for managing issue hierarchies
- A new header that makes fixed, closed, and duplicate statuses more obvious
- A red indication of "Blocked" in the header next to the issue title
- A breadcrumb trail that shows the ancestors and parent of the current issue
- New issue types like Project, Epic, and Story.
- Component display changed to take up less space when there is also a parent hierarchy present
- Issue title is editable inline

Google Issue Tracker now provides an indicator if there are unread, major updates to an issue. The read/unread status is updated automatically as you view issues. You can also manually change the read/unread status by bulk editing issues.

Google Issue Tracker now supports Dark Mode. To use it, click the "Change Theme" button in the top right corner of the UI.
This changes the UI to a more night-friendly appearance. This won’t change any of the visual components or data.

When you hover over a username in Google Issue Tracker, a new hovercard appears that allows you to assign the user to the issue, cc the user, and view the issues assigned to the user. The options for assigning and cc-ing the user only appear if you have Edit issues access.

The Google Issue Tracker settings now appear on a Settings page instead of a dialog. This change supports URLs that link to specific sections of the product settings, and it allows for additional sections in the future. The existing settings have not changed.

The Google Issue Tracker Material UI is now the default interface for all users. If you need to access the legacy UI, click Back to legacy UI at the top of the Google Issue Tracker window.

Starting March 3, 2020 the Google Issue Tracker Material UI will become the default user interface for all users. The Material UI includes a new look and feel as well as support for richer text inclusion via Markdown comments.
You can continue to access the legacy UI by clicking Back to legacy UI at the top of the Google Issue Tracker window.
