In addition, requests for some APIs also require\ndigital signatures.\n\n### API key\n\nYou can use an API key to authenticate requests to any of our APIs. To create\nyour key, you'll use the Cloud console project associated with\nyour project ID. By using an API key, you can:\n\n- Manage all of your APIs in the Cloud console\n\n- Access real-time usage data and 30-days of historical usage data for your\n application in the Cloud console Google Maps Platform\n Metrics\n\n### Client ID\n\nInstead of an API key, you can use your client ID to make requests to any of the\nAPIs *except* the following: Places API,\nGeolocation API, Roads API,\nMaps SDK for Android, and Maps SDK for iOS.\n\nWith your client ID, you can:\n\n- Manage your Client ID and access your private *URL signing secret*,\n or cryptographic key, in the Cloud console.\n\n- Access real-time usage data and 30-days of historical usage data for your\n application from the\n [Cloud console Metrics](https://console.cloud.google.com/google/maps-apis/metrics) page.\n\n For a client ID, a label of the following format will be used:\n `project_number:\u003cYOUR_PROJECT_NUMBER\u003e`.\n- Add the `channel` parameter to requests so you can view more detailed usage\n reports.\n\n#### Where to manage your Client ID in the Google Cloud console\n\nThe Premium Plan Client ID management functionality is available\nin the\n[Cloud console](https://console.cloud.google.com/project/_/google/maps-apis/credentials?utm_source=Docs_Credentials) at the bottom of the\nGoogle Maps Platform Credentials page, in the **Client ID** section. \n\nFurther client ID management tasks, including URL authorization and client ID signing secret\nmanagement, can be accessed on the separate\n[Client ID page](https://console.cloud.google.com/project/_/google/maps-apis/clientid), by clicking the\nedit **edit** icon at the far right of the\n**Client ID** section.\n\n### Digital signatures\n\nIn addition to an API key or client ID, requests to some APIs also require a\nunique digital signature to access the quota and features of your\nPremium Plan. You can generate digital signatures using the private\n*URL signing secret*, or cryptographic key, provided in your Welcome letter\n(and available in the Cloud console). Specifically, you'll need\nto use digital signatures if you use:\n\n- **A client ID** with the web service APIs,\n Maps Static API, or\n Street View Static API\n\n- **An API key** with the Maps Static API or\n Street View Static API\n\n### For more information\n\nFor detailed instructions on using an API key or client ID, and generating\ndigital signatures, see the\n[Premium Plan Authentication Overview](/maps/premium/authentication/overview).\n\nFAQs\n----\n\nIf you have questions about Google Maps Platform, see our frequently asked\nquestions (FAQs):\n\n- [General FAQ](/maps/faq)\n- [Premium Plan FAQ](/maps/premium/faq)\n\nGetting help\n------------\n\nAs a Google Maps Platform Premium Plan customer, you can access the\nCloud console, where you can find support contact information and\naccess exclusive tools and resources.
