La base de données nationale sur l'occupation des sols (NLCD) est une base de données sur l'occupation des sols basée sur Landsat, avec une résolution de 30 m et couvrant huit époques (2001, 2004, 2006, 2008, 2011, 2013, 2016 et 2019). Une neuvième époque pour 2021 est également disponible ici. Les images s'appuient sur la couche de données d'imperméabilité pour les zones urbaines.
L'Institut d'études géologiques des États-Unis (USGS), en partenariat avec plusieurs agences fédérales, a développé et publié sept produits de la base de données nationale sur l'occupation des sols (NLCD, National Land Cover Database) : NLCD 1992, 2001, 2006, 2011, 2016, 2019 et 2021. À partir de la version 2016, les produits de couverture du sol ont été créés à des intervalles de deux à trois ans.
