Der NASA NEX-DCP30-Datensatz umfasst heruntergerechnete Klimaszenarien für die kontinentalen USA, die aus den Läufen des General Circulation Model (GCM) abgeleitet wurden, die im Rahmen des Coupled Model Intercomparison Project Phase 5 (CMIP5, siehe Taylor et al. 2012) und über die vier Treibhausgasemissionsszenarien, die als Representative Concentration Pathways (RCPs, siehe Meinshausen et al. 2011) bekannt sind, durchgeführt wurden, die für den fünften Sachstandsbericht des Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC AR5) entwickelt wurden. Ziel dieser Datasets ist es, eine Reihe von hochauflösenden, bias-korrigierten Klimawandelprognosen bereitzustellen, mit denen sich die Auswirkungen des Klimawandels auf Prozesse bewerten lassen, die auf Klimagradienten im kleineren Maßstab und die Auswirkungen der lokalen Topografie auf die Klimabedingungen reagieren.
Das Dataset enthält monatliche Prognosen für die Zeiträume von 1950 bis 2005 (retrospektiver Lauf) und von 2006 bis 2099 (prospektiver Lauf).
Sie enthält Ensemble-Statistiken, die für jeden RCP aus allen Modellläufen berechnet wurden, die für die Bänder „pr“, „tasmin“ und „tasmax“ verfügbar sind.
NEX-DCP30 wurde von der Climate Analytics Group und dem NASA Ames Research Center mit dem NASA Earth Exchange erstellt und vom NASA Center for Climate Simulation (NCCS) vertrieben.
