Stay updated with the Google Ads API

The Google Ads API changes frequently, and you should keep your application up to date with the changes.

API releases and sunsets

The Google Ads API usually has three major releases and three major release sunsets per year. Three major releases are actively maintained at any one time, and the earlier versions are sunset with each new major release. You should invest effort to regularly upgrade your application. See our release policy to learn more.

The matrix of client library versions and supported API versions can be found on the client library home page. For the Python client library, there is a more detailed dependency matrix.

Feature deprecations

While the Google Ads API tries to align as many incompatible feature changes to version boundaries, this isn't always possible. In cases where it isn't possible to align incompatible changes to version boundaries, the Google Ads API makes unversioned changes.

Unversioned changes are announced on the official API blog and summarized on the sunset page. If this change affects your API calls or the accounts that you manage, Google may send you a Mandatory Service Announcement email summarizing the change. Make sure you keep your API contact email updated, so that you can receive these emails. In addition, follow the official blog for any announcements.
