Microsoft 以「一個時代的終結」為標題,宣布旗下的網路瀏覽器將停止支援 Flash。根據預設,Chrome (自版本 76 起)、Microsoft Edge 及 FireFox 69 都會停用 Flash;再過不久,Google 搜尋索引也會終止使用 Flash。
在網頁只有靜態元素的年代,Flash 為枯燥乏味的靜態網頁增添了豐富的動畫、媒體和動作。這項極具發展性的技術曾為網路上的許多內容創作新手帶來豐沛靈感,在盛行時期幾乎無所不在。以播放 Flash 內容的 Flash runtime 來說,這個程式在 2013 年下半年就創下了 5 億的安裝量。
