Merchants should use both reports if selling and reviewing products. Websites only sharing product information should use the Product snippets report.\n"],null,["# New Search Console Merchant Listings report: expanding eligibility with Product structured data\n\nTuesday, September 13, 2022\n\n\nGoogle is pleased to announce expanded eligibility for enhanced product experiences in\nGoogle Search through the use of `Product` structured data. These enhanced\nproduct experiences were previously only open to Merchant Center users. We're also making\nit easier to understand the requirements for these experiences by updating our documentation\nand reporting in Search Console.\n\nExpanded eligibility for websites that directly sell products\n-------------------------------------------------------------\n\n\nFor some time, Google has provided shoppers with rich product experiences in search results.\nTo make these experiences more accessible to website owners, Google has expanded eligibility\nfor websites that implement structured data. For website owners, there are two broad categories\nof experiences:\n\n- **Merchant listing experiences** for web pages that allow shoppers to buy a product on the site.\n- **Product snippets** for a broader set of web pages with product information (including pages that sell products, publish product reviews, and/or aggregate information from other sites).\n\n\nInitially, product snippets in Google search results were primarily powered by schema.org\n[`Product` structured data](https://schema.org/Product),\nand merchant listing experiences were primarily powered by product details supplied via a\n[Google Merchant Center feed](https://support.google.com/merchants/answer/7052112).\nNow merchants can be eligible for merchant listing experiences by providing product data on web\npages without a Google Merchant Center account. This improved eligibility has in part been made\npossible by recent extensions to product-related properties and types in schema.org for areas\nsuch as apparel sizing and energy efficiency ratings.\n\nEnhanced product experiences available in Search\n------------------------------------------------\n\n\nOnce you add structured data, you may be eligible for the following experiences.\n**Figure 1.** How a merchant listing experience can appear in search results\n\n\nMerchant listing experiences offer enhanced experiences including the\n[Shopping Knowledge panel](https://blog.google/products/shopping/bringing-free-retail-listings-google-search/) and\n[Popular Products](https://www.blog.google/products/search/new-way-find-clothes-shoes-and-more-search/),\nas well as shopping experiences in\n[Google Images](https://images.google.com/) and\n[Google Lens](https://lens.google/). The structured data\nrequired for merchant listings and product snippets is described in our\n[`Product` structured data documentation](/search/docs/appearance/structured-data/product).\n**Figure 2.** An example product snippet in search results While Google collects Product structured data from websites globally, shopping experiences may be available in a restricted set of countries.\n\nIntroducing new Search Console reports for site owners\n------------------------------------------------------\n\n\nTo help websites take advantage of these experiences, the existing Search Console report for\n`Product` structured data has been replaced with two reports: a new\n[Merchant listings report](https://search.google.com/search-console/r/merchant-listings), and a\n[Product snippets report](https://search.google.com/search-console/r/product)\n(which subsumes the old Product report). These reports are\ngrouped under a new Shopping section in the Search Console navigation bar.\n\n\nThe reports allows you to see errors, warnings, and valid pages for markup implemented on your\nsite. The changes in reporting have also been reflected in the\n[Rich Result Test tool](https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/7445569).\n\n### New Merchant listings report\n\n- Identifies structured data issues for [free listing experiences](https://support.google.com/merchants/answer/9826670) in search results.\n- Relevant to pages that sell products.\n- Covers the wider range of schema.org structured data properties and types used by the `Product` type that are now supported for advanced cases, such as apparel sizing and energy efficiency ratings.\n\n### Product snippets report\n\n- Identifies structured data issues for product snippets in search results.\n- Relevant to pages that share product review information or aggregate product data from multiple sites. Note that pages selling products may also include product reviews.\n- Replaces the previous Product structured data report with adjustments related to the separation of merchant listing validations into a dedicated report. The history of prior validation errors is retained in this report.\n\n| Product results impressions are no longer shown on the Product snippets report. You can still view impressions for product results in the performance report.\n\nWhich report should I use?\n--------------------------\n\n\nIf you are a merchant with an online store, you should:\n\n- Check the merchant listings report for your pages selling products.\n- If you publish product reviews on pages that don't sell products, also check the Product snippets report.\n\n\nIf you don't sell products online but still publish pages with Product structured data:\n\n- Check the Product snippets report.\n\nLearn more about Product structured data\n----------------------------------------\n\n\nTo learn more, check our updated documentation on\n[`Product` structured data](/search/docs/appearance/structured-data/product).\nIf you have questions, please reach out on the\n[Google Search Central forum](https://support.google.com/webmasters/community).\n\n\nPosted by [Alan Kent](https://twitter.com/akent99), Search Advocate"]]
